The patient tower was designed with the goals of improving patient privacy, encouraging the healing process, preventing infection transmission and upgrading technology. UConn Health set goals to keep the patient's needs in the center of everything they do, giving them the opportunity to move to and beyond the national standard of care in patient care.
The eleven story building is located on Uconn Health's 206-acre Farmington campus and provides 169 private patient rooms, bringing the hospital's total to 234 licensed beds. The tower includes emergency, intensive care, orthopedic and general surgery, prep and recovery areas, a bone marrow transplant unit, respiratory therapy and other departments.
Mitchell provided plan verification, procuremente and installation management services for the project.
Mitchell also provided servcies for UCONN's $203 Million outpatient pavilion and ambulatory care center that opened in 2015. Mitchell's procurement and installation management team not only led the coordination of medical equipment but also the installation of furnishings. Both projects were underway by others when Mitchell began the work and supported UCONN Health with third party procurement serivces.
