Our Lady of the Lake

Heart and Vascular Tower and Trauma/ER Expansion
Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The 9-story, 330,000 square foot Heart and Vascular building is dedicated to heart and vascular treatment. In addition to patient rooms and state-of-the-art operating rooms, cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs are included. These areas allow for the most advanced technology to be incorporated as new innovations are developed.

The new Trauma Center will provide access to the highest level of trauma care for the most critical cases. Currently, OLOL treats an average of 900 trauma patients per year even without a Level 1 Trauma Center. Today in Louisiana, there are only Level 1 Trauma Centers in New Orleans and Shreveport. The expanded emergency room will be about the size of two football fields and will have a helipad that can support two helicopters simultaneously if needed. There are separate treatment areas for adults, children and trauma patients.
