The new maternal and children’s hospital was identified to bring the best specialists in one location. The project design is underway and completion is planned for 2016. The new facility will provide full services for emergency, surgery, labor and delivery, and inpatient units for acute care, NICU, and PICU. The hospital will provide provincial programs such as the referral center for advanced fetal diagnostics and intervention, pediatric outpatient specialties such as cardiology, rheumatology and audiology.
The new state-of-the-art facility opened in July 2012. This new replacement campus includes a five story 500,000 sf hospital and a support service building for laboratory and other services. In addition to providing an exceptional patient experience, the new facilities will meet growth demands by increasing labor and delivery, beds from 139 to 176, and NICU from 82 to all private. A comprehensive breast center, ambulatory surgery center and outpatient services to meet the needs of woman’s services.
Akron Children’s Hospital embarked on a new ambulatory and critical care expansion. The project includes an expanded Emergency Center with 33 total patient positions served by a new rooftop helipad. Level 3 includes a new ambulatory surgical suite with 4 operating rooms, shell space for 2 additional operating rooms, a prep/recovery suite and central sterile. Shell space for future ambulatory clinics are on Levels 4 and 5. Levels 6 and 7 will be new private NICU beds, increasing their capacity from 60 to 75 beds.
Tradition Medical Center, a new 80 bed hospital, opened it's doors in December 2013. As the third hospital location for Martin Health System, the full service community hospital includes emergency, surgery, diagnostic imaging, 60 med/surg beds, 10 critical care, 14 LDRP and 6 NICU beds. Mitchell was part of an integrated project delivery team working closely to manage the medical equipment from planning through installation.
